Dear Walt is a must read! The book brings one to the realization that we all are on a journey and that we had “places in which we could not stay” as we were impelled out of the darkness and into the light. You will not be able to put this book down as Ron Frazier — possessing an extraordinary gift — weaves the complexities and circumstances of some 15+ relationships throughout their criss-crossing paths, with the expertise of a juggler keeping them all in the air at the same time.

At the same time one is touched by the sensitivity and pathos of the author, expressed through his main character, as Andy traverses his own path to the light. It is light hearted and at times passionately intense, wringing emotions from me, the reader, as he pulled me into the “living” and the remembering of my own journey. Frazier brings us to his conclusion in such an unexpected way that it brought me to tears, as I sat in enlightened silence. I highly recommend this book as a fascinating journey into the meaning of life, lived out in ordinary places with ordinary people, but in extraordinary ways.

Dear Walt is the type of book that is hard to put down until the very end! Finding out the who, where and why of the people in the book is very intriguing. Dear Walt “captures” real people (even though total fiction) interwoven with HOPE throughout the story – great reading!

After reading the book, I just had to sit in a “state of mind” known as “WOW”!

There is much that I enjoyed about the book, but two things that were brought out to me is that rarely is a Christian’s life shaped by “mountain top” experiences. Our “deep in the valley” experiences are where we learn, at least in my experience. The author has portrayed that marvelously. The other profound impression I am left with is that – just as God gives us the deep valley experiences – He rarely uses people who have spotless reputations, or have “their act” together, nor does it occur in our timing. In other words, it is not about what we do, feel, or say that counts, it is all about Him and His wisdom. Thank you to the author for bringing this to me in your unique presentation. I can’t wait until your next foray into the “land of the living” is presented.

I couldn’t put it down. I cried, I laughed, but throughout the story I marveled at how exquisitely Ron Frazier insinuated the message of our merciful, faithful, loving God as the story unfolded, revealing how God works unbeknownst to us wayfarers while we be. Dear Walt is a wonderful work and I can’t wait for Ron’s next one.

From the moment we are introduced to 14-year-old Andy King’s silent tears and defiant question about prayer - “What good is it?” we are indisputably drawn into his life, often recognizing some of our own faltering steps that have bogged down our lives from time to time. Pursuing Andy’s somewhat turbulent, emotional journey into manhood reveals to us just how precarious our own lives can be when we reject the One who can provide solace - instead relying on our own self-absorption.

To fully appreciate “Dear Walt,” it is imperative that you immerse yourself in the lives of every individual who comes in contact with Andy as he pursues peace. The painstaking story of his troubled response to God’s invitation parallels the story of mankind throughout all time.
